जमशेदपुर लेबर एसोसिएशन –भारत का पहला मजदूर संघ जमशेदपुर लेबर एसोसिएशन है, जिसकी स्थापना 5 मार्च 1920 ई में किया गया था। इस एसोसिएशन की स्थापना मजदूर नेता व्यंकेश चक्रवर्ती तथा कोलकाता के बैरिस्टर एस एन हलधर के द्वारा किया गया था। स्थापना के समय टाटा ग्रुप के चेयरमैन दोराबजी टाटा थे। स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के दौरान इस एसोसिएशन द्वारा चार बार हड़ताल किया गया था 1920, 1922, 1925, 1928। इस एसोसिएशन के प्रथम अध्यक्ष एस एम हलधर थे। 1925 ई में हुए हड़ताल को समझाने के लिए 1925 में सी एफ एंड्रयूज ने महात्मा गांधी को जमशेदपुर आने का आमंत्रण दिया था। 1925 ई में गांधीजी जमशेदपुर आए और मजदूर और टाटा ग्रुप के बीच में हुए विवाद का निपटारा किए।
सुरेंद्रनाथ हलधर –यह जमशेदपुर लेबर एसोसिएशन के प्रथम अध्यक्ष बने। वर्ष 1916 में कंपनी को अप्रत्याशित मुनाफा हुआ था लेकिन तब के अंग्रेज अधिकारियों ने मजदूरों को उनका हक नहीं दिया। आर्थिक संतुलन बिगड़ने पर कर्मचारियों ने हड़ताल कर दी। ऐसे में स्वराजवादी व्योमकेश चक्रवर्ती की सलाह पर कोलकाता हाईकोर्ट के बैरिस्टर सुरेंद्रनाथ हलधर को जमशेदपुर लेकर आए। हलधर ने हड़ताल पर बैठे मजदूरों का नेतृत्व किया। इन्होंने ही 5 मार्च 1920 में जमशेदपुर लेबर एसोसिएशन की स्थापना की जो आज टाटा वर्कर्स यूनियन के नाम से विख्यात है।
सी एफ एंड्रयूज (1922-28) –जमशेदपुर लेबर एसोसिएशन के दूसरे अध्यक्ष थे। 1925 ई में जब टाटा मैनेजमेंट और मजदूरों के बीच में विवाद उत्पन्न हुआ था। उस समय महात्मा गांधी को इन्होंने जमशेदपुर बुलाया था। महात्मा गांधी ने यहां मैनेजमेंट और मजदूरों के बीच सुलह कराई थी।
सुभाष चंद्र बोस (1928-1936) –1928 में सी एफ एंड्रयूज के निधन के बाद कंपनी में फिर से हड़ताल शुरू हुई। 1928 में मजदूरों द्वारा कई हड़ताल किए गए जिससे टाटा ग्रुप के उत्पादन में प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ा था। इस स्थिति में सुभाष चंद्र बोस जमशेदपुर लेबर एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष बने और सारे समस्या को समझाया था।
अब्दुल बारी (1936-47) –इनके कार्यकाल में 1937 मे और लेबर यूनियन का नाम बदलकर Tata Workers’ Union रखा गया था।
माइकल जॉन –1956 में इनके नेतृत्व में श्रमिक वर्ग का मैग्नाकार्टा बना। इनके बाद वीजी गोपाल (1977-93), एस के बेंजामिन (1993-2002), आर बी बी सिंह (2002-05), रघुनाथ पांडेय (2006-12), पी एन सिंह (2012-15), आर रवि प्रसाद (2015 से अब तक) अध्यक्ष बने।
AITUC –ALL INDIA TRADE UNION CONGRESS की स्थापना मुंबई मे 31 Oct 1920 में हुई थी। इसका पहला अध्यक्ष लाला लाजपत राय थे। AITUC का 1929 में झरिया में वार्षिक अधिवेशन हुआ था जिसकी अध्यक्षता जवाहर लाल नेहरू ने की थे।
Note:- 2 जनवरी 1919 को साकची शहर का नाम जमशेदपुर और कालीमाटी रेलवे स्टेशन का नाम टाटानगर किया गया था।
Labour Unions Of Jharkhand
Jamshedpur Labour Association –The first labour union of India is Jamshedpur Labour Association, which was established on 5 March 1920. This association was founded by labour leader Vyankatesh Chakraborty and Kolkata barrister S.N. Haldar. At the time of establishment, the chairman of Tata Group was Dorabji Tata. During the freedom movement, this association went on strike four times: 1920, 1922, 1925, 1928. The first president of this association was S M Haldar. In 1925, CF Andrews invited Mahatma Gandhi to come to Jamshedpur to explain the strike that took place in 1925. In 1925, Gandhiji came to Jamshedpur and resolved the dispute between the workers and the Tata Group.
Surendranath Haldar –He became the first president of Jamshedpur Labour Association. In the year 1916, the company made unexpected profits but the British officials of that time did not give the workers their rights. As the economic balance deteriorated, the employees went on strike. In such a situation, on the advice of Swarajist Vyomkesh Chakraborty, Kolkata High Court barrister Surendranath Haldar was brought to Jamshedpur. Haldhar led the workers on strike. He founded the Jamshedpur Labor Association on 5 March 1920, which is now known as the Tata Workers Union.
C F Andrews (1922–28) –He was the second president of Jamshedpur Labor Association. In 1925, a dispute arose between Tata Management and the workers. At that time he had called Mahatma Gandhi to Jamshedpur. Mahatma Gandhi had brought about a settlement between the management and the workers here.
Subhash Chandra Bose (1928-1936)-After the death of C F Andrews in 1928, strikes started again in the company. In 1928, there were many strikes by the workers which adversely affected the production of Tata Group. In this situation, Subhash Chandra Bose became the President of Jamshedpur Labour Association and explained the whole problem.
Abdul Bari (1936-47) –During his tenure, the Labour Union was renamed Tata Workers’ Union in 1937.
Michael Jhon – In 1956, under his leadership, the Magna Carta of the working class was formed. After them, VG Gopal (1977-93), SK Benjamin (1993-2002), RBB Singh (2002-05), Raghunath Pandey (2006-12), PN Singh (2012-15), R Ravi Prasad (2015 till now) became the president.
AITUC –ALL INDIA TRADE UNION CONGRESS was established in Mumbai on 31 October 1920. Its first president was Lala Lajpat Rai. The AITUC held its annual session at Jharia in 1929, which was presided over by Jawaharlal Nehru.
Note:- On 2 January 1919, Sakchi town was renamed Jamshedpur and Kalimati railway station was renamed Tatanagar.
