गया मुंडा की जीवनी
गया मुंडा का जन्म खूँटी जिला के ऐटकीडीह गाँव मे हुआ था। गया मुंडा मुंडा उलगुलान के प्रधान सेनापति थे। ये उम्र में बिरसा मुंडा से काफी बड़े थे। ये सरदारी आंदोलन में भी सक्रिय भूमिका में रहे थे।
गया मुंडा को परंपरागत हथियार चलाने में महारथ हासिल था। यह हमेशा अपने साथ कुल्हाड़ी रखते थे। मुंडा उलगुलान के दौरान आदिवासियों को संगठित कर अंग्रेजो के खिलाफ विद्रोह में सक्रिय भूमिका निभाया। मुंडा विद्रोह के दौरान खूँटी के आसपास के क्षेत्रों में विद्रोहियों ने ब्रिटिश सरकार के खिलाफ काफी उत्पात मचाया था। एटकीडीह के नजदीक सैको गाँव मे गया मुंडा के नेतृत्व में आगजनी और तीर से हमले हुए। इस मामले के जाँच के लिए खूँटी के हेड कॉन्स्टेबल जयराम सैको गाँव पहुँचा। जयराम का उद्देश्य किसी तरह गया मुंडा को पकड़ना था।
उधर एटकीडीह में गया मुंडा के घर पर विद्रोहियों की बैठक चल रही थी। जानकारी मिलते ही जयराम अपने एक साथी कांस्टेबल के साथ एटकीडीह पहुँचा। बैठक ख़त्म होने के बाद विद्रोही तजना नदी के तट पर चले गए थे। जब जयराम तजना नदी के तट पर पहुंचा तब देखते ही गया मुंडा चिल्लाया “सांभर और हिरण आ गए है, इसे मार भगाओ”। यह बात सुनते ही सानरे मुंडा (गया मुंडा का पुत्र) ने जयराम पर तीर से हमला कर दिया। दूसरा कांस्टेबल भागने में सफल रहा। घायल जयराम को गया मुंडा और उसके सहयोगीयों ने कुल्हाड़ी से काट कर मार दिया।
गया मुंडा से संबंधित महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य
1. गया मुंडा की गिरफ्तारी राँची के तत्कालीन उपायुक्त स्ट्रीटफील्ड ने किया था।
2. गया मुंडा की पत्नी मांकी मुंडा को 2 वर्ष का सश्रम कारावास दिया गया। गया मुंडा की पत्नी मांकी मुंडा को ऐटकीडीह घटना में भाग लेने की सजा दी गई। गया मुंडा के दूसरे पुत्र जयमासी मुंडा को आजीवन कारावास दिया गया। गया मुंडा के तीसरे बेटे, बेटी और पुत्रवधुओं को एक वर्ष का सश्रम कारावास दिया गया।
3. गया मुंडा और उसके सानरे मुंडा को एटकीडीह में फाँसी दी गई।
4. शहीद ग्राम विकास योजना में एटकीडीह गांव का चयन किया गया है।
Gaya Munda Biography
Gaya Munda was born in Atkidih village of Khunti district. Gaya Munda Munda was the chief commander of Ulgulan. He was much older than Birsa Munda. He also played an active role in the Sardari movement.
Gaya Munda was expert in using traditional weapons. He always kept an ax with him. During Munda Ulgulan, he organized the tribals and played an active role in the rebellion against the British. During the Munda rebellion, the rebels in the areas around Khunti created a lot of violence against the British government. There was arson and arrow attacks under the leadership of Gaya Munda in Saiko village near Atkidih. Khunti head constable Jairam Saico reached the village to investigate this matter. Jayaram’s objective was to somehow capture Gaya Munda.
On the other hand, a meeting of rebels was going on at Gaya Munda’s house in Atkidih. As soon as the information was received, Jairam reached Atkidih along with one of his fellow constables. After the meeting was over, the rebels went to the banks of the Tajna river. When Jairam reached the banks of Tajna river, Gaya Munda shouted, “Sambhar and deer have come, kill them and drive them away”. On hearing this, Sanare Munda (son of Gaya Munda) attacked Jayaram with an arrow. The second constable managed to escape. Gaya Munda and his associates killed the injured Jayaram by chopping him with an axe.
Important facts related to Gaya Munda
1. Gaya Munda was arrested by the then Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, Streatfeild.
2. Manki Munda, wife of Gaya Munda, was given rigorous imprisonment for 2 years. Gaya Munda’s wife Manki Munda was punished for her part in the Atkidih incident. Jayamasi Munda, the second son of Gaya Munda, was given life imprisonment. Gaya Munda’s third son, daughter and daughters-in-law were given one year rigorous imprisonment.
3. Gaya Munda and his brother Munda were hanged in Etkidih.
4. Atkidih village has been selected in the Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojana.
